Programme overview

A compact online course about sustainability to enable you to start actioning real, authentic and ongoing change.

Throughout this online course you’ll cover a range of innovative and diverse approaches to sustainability underpinned by indigenous values – helping you to create a long term vision while balancing the impact on current and future generations.

You’ll be guided by our knowledge experts on key themes such as the current state of sustainability, current global challenges, beyond linear thinking, social and environmental justice, economic inclusiveness, community and collaboration, culturally sustainable approaches to sustainability, indigenous values and perspectives, climate change, and leadership for change.

After the 8 weeks you’ll have knowledge, tools and capability to begin to make practical changes in your context that will ultimately lead to a thriving and sustainable future for all.

Programme details

Time requirement 

8 weeks of part-time study, online.

As part of this micro-credential you will be required to dedicate the following time:

  • 3 x 90 minute live facilitated sessions across the 8 weeks (Wednesdays 12pm – 1:30pm)
  • 12-15 hours of self-directed learning each week, much of which will be in your own work or context (including written and video based content, discussion forums, quizzes and assessments delivered through our Learning Management System, Ako Mai)

Fees, discounts & scholarships

Domestic (NZ student fees): $900 inc GST
International students: $1,500 inc GST

Get a 10% earlybird discount if you apply 4 weeks before the programme start date, making the domestic fees just $810 inc GST

We have a range of full fees scholarships available for domestic students.

Entry requirements

To be enrolled in this NZQA-accredited micro-credential you must either:

  • Have a recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification or higher or;
  • Have equivalent professional experience in a relevant industry or community.

This programme is available to study as an international student either via online distance learning or if you currently reside in New Zealand and your visa conditions allow study. Where to from here?

This programme is the perfect taster to lead into our Postgraduate Certificate in Leading Change for Good. This is a 34 week, part-time programme that goes in-depth into research, discussions and case studies showcasing contemporary leadership approaches to drive change for positive impact on communities, organisations and businesses.

Learners on the programme complete a detailed change strategy that harnesses leadership to create sustainable, authentic value in NZ’s changing social, economic, political, and cultural environments.
