A flexible, fun and practical postgraduate certificate enabling teachers of Aotearoa to confidently implement the Digital Technologies learning areas | Hangarau Matihiko tupuranga of the New Zealand curriculum in your own learning contexts, as soon as you start learning with us.

This qualification enables teachers to drive impact and lead change in your classroom. Drawing from research and contemporary teaching practice and combining this with new educational policies and practices and hands-on, applied learning, this is an innovative and highly practical postgraduate certificate.

Programme details

Time requirement 

35 weeks of part-time study, primarily online learning.

As part of this postgrad you will be required to dedicate the following time:

  • 1 x 90 minute live, facilitated online session each week.
  • Weekly applied, hands-on learning in your classroom + additional preparation and collaboration work outside of this (roughly 6-8 hours per week)
  • 2 x sets of block days in week 1 and week 15 (see key dates for more details) please note: all January 2022 face-to-face dates have been moved online.

Any face-to-face sessions will be at The Mind Lab – 99 Khyber Pass Road, Grafton, Auckland.

  • March 2022 intake: 14th March 2022 – 13th November 2022
  • August 2022 intake: 1st August 2022 – 2nd April 2023

There are 80 places available in each intake.


Domestic (NZ student fees): $3,260 inc GST
International students, onshore: $16,599 inc GST

Discounts and scholarships

  • We have a range of full fees scholarships available for domestic students.
  • We offer an earlybird discount of 10% for enrolments received 4 weeks prior to course start date for domestic students. This takes the full programme cost to $2,934 inc GST.
  • Domestic students are eligible to apply for StudyLink Student Loans, Fees Free, or there are also a range of local grants and scholarships available for postgraduate study, contact us to talk through some of the options.

Entry requirements

Educators with either an undergraduate qualification (not necessarily in education) or a Diploma in Education will automatically qualify for entry. Applicants with other qualifications/experience can also be considered.

This programme is available to study as an international student either via online distance learning or if you currently reside in New Zealand and your visa conditions allow study. Course outline

Our Postgraduate Certificate consists of the following two integrated course components:

DCLC8001 Digital and Collaborative Transformation in Learning and Leadership – 30 credits

DCLC8002 Leading Research Informed Innovation in Practice – 30 credits

If you need more of a ‘crash course’ and can’t commit to 35 weeks of learning, you may be interested in our new micro-credential. Level 8 and NZQA accredited, this course is delivered fully online and in a self-paced format, with optional sessions to join throughout the course if you’d liked additional support.
