Ako Mai is the learning platform that will help guide your journey with The Mind Lab and Tech Futures Lab. This page contains key information about Ako Mai and who to contact if you have questions or issues accessing the content or features.
Ako Mai is the new learning management system (or learning portal) for all students at The Mind Lab and our sister organisation, Tech Futures Lab. It’s the hub for all your course content, assessment details and feedback. It’s also the platform where you upload your assessments and review your grades when they’re published. Students can browse through their week-by-week content, tasks and key assessment dates, all on Ako Mai.
Looking for The Mind Lab Portal? If you are enrolled in any programmes that started prior to September 29th 2021 then you will be using The Mind Lab Portal.
If you’re an enrolled student and have already created an account on Ako Mai, then go directly to akomai.co.nz and log in using your Student ID number and your password. This is also where you can reset your password if you have forgotten it.
If you are an enrolled student and have not created an account, prior to your start date you will receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org with instructions on how to set up your account. If you have not received this email (make sure you check your Spam, Promotions or Junk folders!) a day before your start date, please email email@example.com and someone will be able to help.
All students need to complete their enrolment before getting access to Ako Mai – if you aren’t sure if you’ve completed your enrolment you can email firstname.lastname@example.org
Ako and Mai are Māori words, and should be pronounced as such. Phonetically, the sounds are similar to "Ah-kor" "My". Watch this quick video to hear the pronunciation. Or check out Māori dictionary to hear the individual words.
Te Mihinga Komene shared that Ako Mai in it's essence 'Ako Mai' means 'Learn with us'. 'Ako' is the reciprocal way of learning and teaching. Everything that is learned, is taught and everything that is learned, is shared. 'Mai' is here, towards us, with us.
Learners get access to Ako Mai in the week leading up to the start of their course. You'll receive an email from email@example.com - make sure to check your Junk, Promotions and Spam folders. If you still haven't received it, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and the team will be able to help you.
