Tech Toolbox is our answer to parents, grandparents and other adults determined not to get left behind in an increasingly tech-enabled world. The 10-week hands-on programme immerses students in digital and creative technologies that are soon to shape our world. Each week a different technology will be covered, leaving you with broad, practical knowledge of what the future holds.

Hear our Education Director Rich Rowley talk to Radio New Zealand about the course: ‘Keeping up with tech-savvy kids.’

The Mind Lab by Unitec and MOTAT join forces to empower Kiwi kids and adults

We’ve got a brand new home over at MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) from April 2018.

MOTAT and The Mind Lab share a natural synergy. As an interactive museum, MOTAT focuses on Kiwi ingenuity, and educating and inspiring the next generation. The Museum plays a valuable role in providing learning experiences outside of the classroom (LEOTC) which broaden and deepen curriculum understanding for more than 25,000 Auckland students each year. The MOTAT education team will continue to deliver programmes that use collection items and in-house subject expertise to cover topics from the Social Sciences, Science and Technology curriculum.

Same same but different

Never fear, The Mind Lab experience isn’t going to change. Same fantastic team, same future-focused content, and same wide-eyed excitement from our visitors (young and old).

Location from April 2018:

Our Auckland lab will now be located at MOTAT 1 805 Great North Road, Western Springs, Auckland 1022. Entry to programmes will be via Gate C on Stadium Road.

When visiting MOTAT, you will need to park close to the MOTAT 1 site (on Great North Road). Parking is available on Stadium Road and Great North Road for MOTAT visitors. Find out more on the MOTAT website.
